Student Life
Alongside delivering the highest quality education at St. Frances of Rome School, we strive to enhance students' experiences by organizing a variety of events throughout the academic year. These activities include fundraisers, field trips, service hours, and much more.
Camp Tecumseh
Campamento Tecumseh, IN

Mr. Jackson, our principal, advocates for active learning and organized a trip for grades 7-8 to Camp Tecumseh, IN. Established in 1924, the camp offers educational experiences that foster respect for oneself, community, and nature. Students participated in the Foundations for Success Program, learning essential skills such as leadership, trust, communication, problem-solving, and self-confidence through team-oriented activities. These activities encouraged creative application of skills, including navigating group dynamics, solving puzzles, and developing empathy.
Cantigny Park
Chicago, IL

National Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15 to October 15, honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens with roots in Latin American countries. Each year, our students embark on a field trip to Cantigny Park, where they appreciate the outdoor art exhibit showcasing 48 imaginative sculptures titled "Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World," inspired by Mexican folklore.
Cultural & Religious Performances
Celebrating Our Rich SFR Heritages

Throughout the year, our students take part in a diverse array of cultural and religious celebrations, including significant events such as Our Lady of Guadalupe, Black History Month, a Christmas Program, and Hispanic Heritage Month, among many others. These celebrations not only enrich their educational experience but also promote an appreciation for the various traditions and histories that shape our community.
Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics
Northwestern University, Chicago IL

Our 8th grade class appreciates the opportunity to visit the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Science at Northwestern University. Thanks to the SQE Inspire Program (Simpson Querrey Institute for Epigenetics) that aims to expose and inspire students to a variety of STEM careers and academics that complement those careers.
Stock Market Program
Big Shoulders Fund, Chicago IL

Big Shoulders Fund developed the Stock Market Program to bring business professionals into eighth grade classrooms to teach basic concepts related to the stock market, investing, and careers in business. Professionals with a background in the financial markets and investing can share their knowledge and encourage young people to get involved in the profession in a supportive, structured environment. The program also provides a modest financial incentive to the school and the students based on the portfolio performance.
Athletics
Discovering Athletic Talents

We hold the belief that participating in sports transcends the concepts of winning or losing; it's fundamentally about personal growth and development. We urge all students to discover their interests and talents through our wide range of athletic programs, which promote a sense of community and camaraderie among our student body.
